Old St. Louis
Old North St. Louis is a neighborhood just north of downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Old North St. Louis was established as the independent village of North St. Louis in 1816 and was annexed by the City of St. Louis in 1841.
Among the neighborhood's landmark structures are many churches, Crown Kitchen Candy and the Mullanphy Emigrant Home. This home provided temporary shelter and services to the thousands of immigrants who settled in St. Louis during the years following the Civil War. In the late 1800s part of Old North St. Louis was predominantly Irish in population; that section was known as "Kerry Patch".
Today the neighborhood is known for it's historic brick homes, and iaward-winning community gardens.

Venice Café
The Venice Cafe is opened Monday - Saturday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. They have a very full schedule of different acts. Inside the walls, from top to bottom, are covered with all sorts of kick knacks such as dolls, tile mosaics and art work. Outside the patio has faux Roman columns and a garden filled with lush greenery. I kept hearing that old Ricky Nelson song from 1970s, Went to a Garden Party...

Head's General Store
Head's General Store is located in St. Albans Missouri. It was built in 1892 by a dozen or so landowners of St. Albans who thought they needed a general store in their community. The "St. Alban's General Store" had been born. The owners would then rent the store to various proprietors until 1915 when it was then purchased by John Pfeiffer. He operated the store and raised his family on the property. John Pfeiffer's daughter, Mae Pfeiffer Head, bought the property in 1941. She changed the name of the store to Head's General Store and continued to operate the store for the next 61 years until her death in 2002.
