The Cherokee Business District includes over 50 independently owned businesses, spreading seven blocks on Cherokee Street. The businesses are within walking distant from  the residential community and attracts customers from all over the St. Louis, providing a unique shopping experience. There are all types of shops such as retail  clothing, grocers, dining and live entertainment. Just as Soulard claims to have the biggest Mardi Gras party, the Cherokee Busniess claims to have the largest Cinco
de Mayo festival.
