Forest Park Forever

Cake visit

Forest Park Forever works with the City of St. Louis, volunteers and donors and members to preserve the park and bring it back to an American urban park once again.

Some of the renovations we have seen on our cake hunt through Forest Park that included the Grand Basin, the Jewel Box and the World’s Fair Pavilion. Upcoming restorations include the reopening of the St. Louis Mounted Police Stables to transforming the Upper Muny Lot into a vibrant Festival & Parking Plaza.

Union Station

Cake Shed

On September 1, 1896, Union Station was officially opened with a night of festivities. At times the station served more than 100,000 passengers a day. Other memorable events include:
  • During the 1904 World's Fair a train left every minute to transport fair goers to the fair grounds.
  • Fans met the 1942 Championship St. Louis Cardinals when they returned after winning in New York.
  • In 1948 President Harry Truman’s most famous picture with a copy of the Chicago Tribune and it's "Dewey Beats Truman" headline.
The last train pulled out of St. Louis Union Station in 1978.
