Barretts Elementary School opened its doors in 1895. It was the first school within the Parkway School District. It started off as a one-room brick schoolhouse.
There have been several updates to the building since then bringing it to its current state. The school was named after the popular train station, Barretts Station. The area around the school was sold to the Missouri Pacific Railroad by J.R. Barretts and his wife.

If my grandson can give me the definition of a balloon as an inflatable rubber device and spell every word correct right off the top his head, that leaves me in the dust. As the song says teach your parents well. The fresh face of the future is our most valuable resource care for it with love.
