Central Institute for the Deaf

Central Institute for the Deaf

The Central Institute for the Deaf started with four children. It takes the acoustic approach to teach deaf children to listen, talk and read without using sign language.
Students are aided by digital hearing aids and cochlear implants allowing for partial hearing, while also learning to read lips.

This year the institute is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

  1. I liked this garden but said to myself that it is a bit noisy, it is right next to a highway. The area is for deaf people and maybe they would enjoy hearing some noise. Even though it was noisy it was a nice place to be.
